Hi - I've been diabetic on insulin for 10 years now. About 10 weeks ago my right forefinger became
painful and swollen. Within the last 4 weeks this has spread to both forefingers, both pointer fingers and both wrists all now extremely swollen and painful. My GP took blood tests for muscular & arthritic checks - all were clear. He then sent me for x-ray - also came back clear.
He is hopeful that this will just disappear, but I'm not so optimistic! I've been seeing him at 2 week intervals and will see him again on Monday. Meanwhile I have read about diabetic cheiroarthropathy (the symptoms would seem to relete to mine). The article say's that around 50% of long-term diabetics suffer from this but I've never heard of it before. Does anyone have experience of this?
