Sorry, I know this is not a Canada site, but you do rule over us provinces.

Does anyone know if Jardiance (as it's called in the US) is available in Canada? I've Googled both "Empagliflozin" and "Jardiance Canada" and received no results.

Whoa! That answers my question. I guess I'll gave to go to the States for this wonder drug.

Figures.

Thanks very much!!!!
Those guidelines are from 2013 so the drug may have been made available since then. Your local pharmacist should be able to find out if it's available now, or if not, when it is expected.

Nope. Just paid a visit to my wife's endocrinologist this morning (she has Type 2 as well) and he'd never heard of it. I could barely pronounce it, but he had plainly never heard of the drug name, nor any of its brand names (Synjardy, Jardiance). And as I said, Googling produces nothing. I guess I will resign myself to Janumet.

I'm not overweight, thank Zeus, and moderate exercise plus as zero sugar/carbs as I can manage, seem to be keeping my blood glucose levels under 7.9 most days.

Have you asked a pharmacist? They have access to the latest info on availability.

Have you considered that you might have LADA diabetes? Also, you may find insulin better than these other drugs, which have serious side effects and risks. Here is some info about insulin in T2:
