Does Coca Cola contain Aspartame?

Soft drinks like orange squash, cream soda, lilt and 'diet coke' have aspartame listed as an ingredient on their labels. Aspartame is a horrible artificial sweetener, which I try to avoid in any soft drinks. I even think that I can taste aspartame in fluids.

However, Coca Cola does not have aspartame on it's label. It just says it's a soft drink with "vegetable extracts" and lists :
"Carbonated water, sugar, colour (caramel), phosphoric acid, natural flavourings including caffeine".

The sweet taste does not seem to be aspartame. Coca Cola for me is a nice refreshing drink and I would like to know if it does contain aspartame. Can anyone shed any light on this?

look for the words "contains a source of phenylalanine" which will be somewhere under the ingredients. I have read an article that Coca Cola are looking to move to Stevia and are in discussions with the FDA in America

The 2 main ingredients is carbonated water and sugar

Hasn't there been some sort of problem with "caramel flavour" as well? I vaguely recall something along those lines.

Yep, and not to mention the sugar content.

According to their official site it does:

I have read this though it does not say aspartame is used in cola. It does say it is used in some of the drinks made by the coca cola company. For example, aspartame is in Lilt and the ingredients label clearly says so (Lilt is made by the coca cola company). The reason I asked this question is because the ingredients label of a coca cola can or bottle does not mention aspartame. If it is an ingredient why is it not on the label?

Thank you. I suspected this was the case but couldn't be certain.
