I have been suffering from a cold / flu for the past 2 weeks. sore throat, blocked nose, cough, feel very hot. I have noticed that my blood sugar has gone up, after eating and even when fasting. This is common?

As another type 2, I find that any time I'm feeling under the weather or ill it can upset my glucose levels - maybe not by much but they do go up. Stress, and even the weather can also affect them. Also hormone levels apparently.

I'm not sure, I'm sorry, I'm a type 1 so have to take extra insulin when I'm sick, have you asked your Dr for advice?
