Does inflammation within the body affect BG and vice versa ..

I do not have diabetes
Prediabetes was diagnosed after a routine blood test for my Polymyalgia. The result showed high ESR of 83mm/hr and Plasma C reactive protein of 19 mg/L, again high.

What I would like to kniw is can inflammation within the body raise BS, and vice versa?

My doctor wanted to put me back on a high dose of steroids, reducing gradually. As, up until last June, I had been taking Prednisolone for 6.5 years with little consistent improvement, I politely refused.

Yes and yes. Illness or infection can cause elevated BS and bacteria thrive in a sugary environment so infections will take longer to clear.

Thanks. Can't do much about the inflammation without going back to steroids (which I'm not prepared to do), but can certainly work at reducing blood sugar levels.
