My BG has risen before eating, whether it be morning or afternoon. Yesterday 6.2 today 6.7 when I eat I do the two hour test and my BG sugar goes down to either around 5.3 to 5.6 yet I have not changed my eating. I am still doing low carb no more than 20grams. Can anybody explain this to me please would be very grateful

No-one can explain it and after all, they're very small jumps. Same meals, same times ... doesn't matter. They WILL vary

Thank u for ur quick reply. Just taken another BG sample and now 10mins later 6.2

Those readings are well within your meter's variance, too. Plus there's all the internal stuff that'll raise your BG - stress, illness, exercise, even just being annoyed and taking a reading at the peak of that moment.

Those meter numbers aren't solid and 100% accurate - they're a rough guide, no more.

Hi @derry60 ..
Meters can have up to 15% variance .. so, as others have said above, your numbers are good and you should not be worrying about minor differences in individual readings. It's much more important to monitor trends over time and any spikes after eating certain foods, which are part of the learning process for "eating to your meter" ..
Hope this helps

Thank u for ur reply. New to all this still. So far when I eat the numbers go down to like 5.3 or 5.6 usually in between. I always thought numbers where lower when fasting and higher when eating, oh well feel better now thank I all

Keep a diary of when and what you eat and what your readings are and you'll see what pattern your body follows before too long. You'll find eating at different times of day will impact your meter, as well as whether you're eating high-fat foods and so on. Everyone's patterns are a little different and it's a learning process that will keep changing from mood to mood, season to season, year to year.

It keeps us interesting!
