Because of the "episode" this afternoon it ocurred to me that I don't know the rules that apply to the forum. Obviously no-one should cause offence or be rude, but are there any other rules that I should know about? I only joined the forum a short while ago, so am still finding my feet and don't want to put one of them in the wrong place

I've always thought that 'treat others as you'd like to be treated' covers most things. No-one deserves to be insulted for their illness/condition.

I quite agree.
 
I knew that good manners, politeness and respect were all expected as a matter of course, it was the finer points that I was interested in and Noblehead has provided that info. Thank you all.
 
I've no idea what the episode was but I note that one of your posts mentioned a Tesco product? We've all done it, but I guess it's product advertising so best to be more general when talking about specific foods. I can't see any problem myself with other posts I've come across today.
 
Do you mean I can't mention a Tesco product?
 
I was just going to say I've mentioned certain shops and brands several times, I didnt see anything in the rules about that??
 
We compare products all the time and say where we get them, as in low-carb bread. I think the problem arises when someone is trying to promote or market an individual product.

Any member who posts about a supermarket product in relation to diabetes is not breaking this forum rule. Some come here advertising all manner of lotions and potions and they direct users to a website where they are probably paid to advertise the product. They are called spammers.


June was not involved in any incidents, she was just wondering about something that happened earlier.
 
I'm pleased to see that we can recommend a certain product from our own experience and not be accused of promoting that product. There have been a lot of useful tips that I've picked up from this forum that have made my diabetic life easier. Long may it continue.
 

I do my shopping online and often have my shopping list open when reading the forums so I can add things as I come across them, it's so helpful!
 
Can't thank this forum enough for the support and advice that I've received, not to mention the laughs I've had at the antics of fellow diabetics. The tree hugger in North London having a hypo had me in fits. So glad I joined up
