Goodness! This Michael Mosley is really getting around with his book! Got an email from Diabetes NZ today, and what do you know? "Simon and Schuster, in conjunction with Paper Plus, are bringing Dr Michael Mosely to New Zealand for an exclusive event to promote his latest publication, “The Eight Week Blood Sugar Diet”. Join us as the author of the bestselling “The Fast Diet” reveals a game-changing approach to one of the greatest silent epidemics of our time – raised blood sugar levels. Bring your friends and family and come prepared to learn some invaluable approaches to a healthier lifestyle. The ticket price includes a copy of the book “The Eight Week Blood Sugar Diet”, which contains a detailed eight week programme including menu plans to follow. Dr Mosley will be available to sign copies immediately following the event, as well as a question and answer session, where he will discuss the key elements of the book and how it can make a significant impact on your short and long-term health. All proceeds from this function will go to Diabetes New Zealand Auckland to support their work in raising awareness of prediabetes and diabetes and supporting those affected." I feel torn, as Diabetes NZ support the usual nonsense of 1/4 plate of carbs three times a day, and do not support low-carbing, actively. But here they are - supporting the principles of , via Mosley and his book - fasting, moderate to low carbing (I take it?) etc, etc, for a fee, which goes back to an organisation that does not support those principles. I am seriously confused here! Part of living in 'interesting times' re nutrition and diabetes treatment? But it's all good as it gets the message out there?
