Dr. Paul Mason - 'low Carb From A Doctor's Perspective'

From the recent Sydney Uni event by Low Carb Down Under:

Thank you, this makes good sense. Sadly in 2013 a dietitian was de-registered in Australia for promoting low carb diets for her T2D patients. The Australian Dietitians Association was the instigator of this de-registration. Ignorance is not always bliss.

Thanks for posting this.. Makes sense regarding the skin tags. My T2 dad, though not over weight developed a fair few.
As I've gotten older, thankfully haven't developed this trait.

Oddly, I never had an issue with acne as a teen either..

Interesting re skin tags: I used to have a very roly poly neighbour who had them very badly on her neck, and when I seriously gained weight (aka middled aged spread!) then I acquired a patch too, which eventually and thankfully disappeared after I was diagnosed with T2 and started low carbing and lost weight. I've recently noticed a couple have reappeared though...

And @Jaylee I was the opposite as I used to have bad acne as a teenager!

My thanks too to @Indy51 - you're always an excellent digger-outer of useful information. I consider you to be our forum Informaton Officer!

Many thanks for the link @Indy51 . It filled in a few gaps for me. Interesting re the skin tags, had a few until I started Low Carb, one stubborn blighter left. No acne in my teenage years, and no obvious skin probs now.

A careful and logical explanation of the processes behind type 2 diabetes. I have had chronic acne which only resolved itself when I started taking the pill. There is more to the hormone balance story that could be explored. Does the menopause also affect the balance of insulin production so that some women become more prone to insulin resistance as they age? It is known that some women become prone to acne after the menopause while they hardly had any skin problems before.
By lowering carbs in my diet I have managed to lose weight and although still heavier than I was as a teen have recently managed to put on a dress I wore back then, it will be interesting to wear for a 70's night (it probably says more about the state of my wardrobe)
