I expect most have heard of this gentleman, I was actually looking into something called Common Variable Immunodeficiency, but I was intrigued to listen to his story of how it was in the late 60s when it came to measuring BG. We don't know how lucky we are really, I for one am guilty of taking a lot for granted. My dear old Aunt, type I from very young in the late 1920s was pretty lucky to reach the age she did, even though she had lost her sight near the end of her life.

Tomorrow is the start of the free 2015 Diabetes Summit. It will host different speakers including some from the Functional Medicine camp that some may feel to be of questionable merit. However, Day 4 (Thursday) will focus on talks from some notable advocates of the low-carb approach to controlling blood sugars including Dr. Bernstein. Although these free Summits normally require registration before you can access the sessions (each day’s talks/interviews are only available free for 24 hours), you can often access them without registering by simply replacing the string, “/schedule/” with the string “/event/” in the URL link below.

If that doesn't work for you and you must register, I would recommend that you use a disposable or “throw-away” email address to avoid having the inbox of your regular email address flooded with repetitive “sales” messages to purchase offline versions of the sessions plus “bonus” materials that may be of lesser value than that claimed.

Dr. Bernstein’s Diabetes University sessions on YouTube are also worth a visit. The primary link can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuJ11OJynsvHMsN48LG18Ag/videos
Session 1 contains a visual view of Dr. Bernstein’s original 3 lb. (1.2 KG) blood glucose meter so you can see what he actually had to contend with each time he measured his blood sugar levels. Session 16 is a revealing explanation behind the medical establishment’s continued recommendation of high, organ-damaging blood sugar levels that are well above normal.

AcrossThePond, I'm excited about this but was not offered the opportunity to attend this week, though I have registered. All information states the dates as March 23 - 30, 2015. Am I missing something? I'm going to save money to buy the presentation package.

Thanks SO much for sharing this information!

Winnie, my bad. Sorry for the mixup. I got the dates crossed with another Summit that did start February 23rd called “The Children’s & Teen’s Health Summit.” Both are hosted by the same company (InfusionSoft) so their emails all look similar.
Identical instructions apply to most Infusionsoft summits and by simply replacing “/schedule/” with “/event/”, your browser will redirect you to the current day’s presentations. Example:
http://childrenshealthsummit.com/schedule/
change to:
http://childrenshealthsummit.com/event/
(auto-redirects)

As you discovered, the Diabetes Summit will start March 23rd and some of the sessions do sound quite interesting including the one by Dr. Bernstein. From past experience with various other InfusionSoft summits, I have found that the “extra materials” that one gets by paying for the sessions “package” have generally not been that useful. On the other hand, if you simply want to keep a copy of the presentations on your hard drive for later (or repeat) viewing/listening, the sessions can easily be downloaded requiring less than ten minutes total of your time for all sessions for any given day. If you want to try doing that, use this free JDownloader application. The version 2 Beta has a lot more features than the original version and is reasonably stable (despite warnings to the contrary). Being a beta release, it does have lots of updates (almost every other day) but I have not found that to be a problem and I have been using it for over 6 months. If you need instructions for using JDownloader to save Summit sessions to your hard drive, post back and I’ll provide specific but simple directions. You can then experiment with it beforehand by saving sample sessions form the current Children’s & Teen’s Health Summit (linked above) to become familiar with the mechanics involved.
