Hi all

I wonder if anyone could give me advice on drinking lager (the relatively low alcohol ones which are about 15g carbs i.e. Fosters, Amstel etc).

I'm always unsure how to handle it as they contain both carbs and alcohol. Should I take insulin to deal with the carbs or will the alcohol content serve to correct it?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated?

THANKS

The only thing you can do @GBS_82_ is try a small amount and test yourself at intervals afterwards to find out what it's doing to you.

For me personally, beers seem to raise my BS, wine and spirits lower it. For you it might be different.

A great question - and also the first thing I thought about when diagnosed last week.

I can make the adjustments to food and live with it, but the thought of giving up the hooch fills me with dread. I'm not a heavy drinker, but I like to have a beer or three when watching the footy and a couple of bottles of wine spread out over a weekend. Does anyone manage that sort of consumption and keep BS levels on the straight and narrow?
