Driving licence for type 1 - how long did it take you to obtain one?

Hi,

Hope I'm in the right place to ask the question. I basically want to find out how long do I have to wait to obtain driving license if I'm type 1 diabetic.

Me and my wife are planning holiday in US, road trip in California but I just realised that I just can't use my Polish driving licence without additional driving permit so I recently applied for the UK replacement. I'm worry now that I won't receive it on time, before our holiday.

Any experience with dvla and driving license application?

I just renewed my licence and it took a few weeks for my new one to come.

Not sure if this is the same as what you're after though as mine was already a UK licence.

Mine took a few weeks, but I was trading in a regular UK license for a diabatic one.
 
did it take longer than 3 weeks? dvla website says that it usually takes up to 3 weeks, but now I'm worried that I won't receive it before my holiday.
 
I am trying since September last year to get my full German license swapped against a full UK one. Needless to say I am almost a the point of giving up. The DVLA is useless. Now, I do hope it won't take that long for you but I wouldn't put money on it. Good luck!!
 
I still have a hope, I will call them tomorrow and check the progress. Btw anyone knows if I can cancel my application and receive back my original driving license?
