My level when i woke was 6.8 then 8.6 pre breakfast, 12.2 2 hours post breakfast and ive just check them again and its 5.8. I know 5.8 is within the normal BG but its never been so low and I worried about Hypo. Could my levels drop again? Would I need to take action if they do? I think the metformin must be taken effect.

Please don't worry. You won't hypo in the 5's. This is good. It is showing something is working.

However, your breakfast spike was high - 3.6mmol/l rise isn't good. Ideally any rise should be under 2mmol/l as a rough guide. What did you eat?

ask your Dr about, it is possible to hypo with metformin, but it's from starvation like conditions
when you get to 3.5, it's time you ate something :) that's the min normal range
you can get false hypo, where you get symptoms but your bg is higher, just have something to eat
