Hi everyone. This is the first time I've been to this forum, but I was diagnosed type 2 3 & a half years ago. I'm on 2000mg of Metformin a day. My problem is I still suffer extreme drowziness after eating. It's crippling, & I seem to be the only one on the planet who gets this. Even my doctor doesn't know why. I start to get drowsy about half an hour after my meal, my face becomes tight like I'm suffering from fatigue, I feel drained of energy, & feel ill. I am soon asleep, & don't wake up for perhaps an hour. On waking I feel really ill for a while. My sugar reading bm is always good at between 4 & 5, & when I have my 5 monthly blood tests, my result is usually 6.1. I live with this every day. Is this happening to any of you? Would be grateful for any feedback.

Has your doc suggested that you test your own blood especially 1 or 2 hours after meals as you could be getting spikes then. You wont see this from the hba1c test. I used to have the same problem but didn't know until I started to test. I still sometimes get very tired after meals and it's usually when I've had a few carbs too many.

Yes, I've always tested my own sugar & it does go too high, even when I don't eat too many carbs.
