Today I went to the hospital eye clinic for an assessment to have my cataracts removed a retinol scan showed I had very early signs of dry macular degeneration. I googled this when I got home and I read that although there is treatment for the wet version at this time one has not be found for the dry version. What is recommended is a good healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables of all colours including sweet potatoes squash carrots mangoes oranges wheat bran lentils and brewers yeast combined with some vitamin tablet supplements like E and C, selenium beta carotine, zinc and copper. So not really a low carb diet and a lot that would not be eaten on LCHF so if any one else on here has this eye problem how do you manage it along with your diabetes

I didn't know there were two types. My mum had macular degeneration for about the last 20 years of her life. It barely changed during that time.

Annie a while back I bought an American book for my Aunt called 'The macular degeneration handbook' by Chet Cunningham. I'm sorry I don't know your answer re LCHF but if you would like a copy of the book and can't get one I'd be happy to send you mine. So PM me if you would like it.

Thank you so much for the offer of the book but the first thing I did after I had googled about it was to go to Amazon and order a book. It was so kind of you to offer so thanks
