I know that it is not uncommon for diabetics to have dry mouths but is it normal for other things to be dry, despite taking the recommended amount of fluids (at least 2 litres daily)? Everything being skin, hair, eyes, mouth. I have to take diuretics to reduce swelling in my lower body but am drinking my 2L fluids daily, at least, which seems to be odd, but I do it because I ended up in hospital when I failed to do so. Still, I swell up daily and still I am aware of dryness all the time.

My dry skin disappeared after a few weeks of low carbing. When I mentioned it to a beautician friend she said it was the extra fats I was eating, not the fluid

Hair dryness is more down to minerals (lack of) than fluid intake

I still get a very dry mouth, especially at night if I've been sleeping with my mouth open. If i manage to keep it closed then I'm fine

I seem to have a problem then. I've been low carbing for about 2 years and it has only been in the last few months that my skin has dried noticably. My eyes have been dry for much longer and also watery - probably an attempt to moisturise. The dry mouth has been much worse in the last months as well. I have been doing lchf all along but now I'm beginning to think that I will have to reduce fats due to stomach problems. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same thing.

Maybe the diuretics are washing good stuff away with the bad? Only a guess, and whatever it is may not be low carb or diabbete related...suggest talk to doctor or nutritionist

Because of the pandemic are you spending more time indoors than you normally would?

I have read that a shift in your environmental surroundings can affect the way the body reacts in certain situations.

I was beginning to think the same thing myself. There are quite a few things I want to ask the GP about when I can get to see one, or at least talk to one. Expecting the results of a FIT test this week, so will wait to see the results of that - if anyone bothers to tell me. If they don't it's a good reason to ask for a chat at least. Dieticians are not contactable at present - that's the closest we have here to a nutritionist.
