DVLA Category C1+E can any one help?
I am 38 years old and got type 1 diabetes when I was 19, I informed DVLA as all good diabetics should. They removed the C1+E category more or less straight away. I am now looking at a motorhome which falls in to this category because of it's weight of 5 ton, anyway what's the chance of having it put back on my licence, filled all the forms in got my doctor to do the same. Has anyone had the same problem.
Thanks David

i had my 7.5ton removed when i notified them last yeat, at the time i owned 3 fire engines all over 3.5 ton

obviously i can no longer drive them, i have sold 1, still have 2, i intend to try and get my licence back

from what i understand, you complete the form, have a medical with a doctor, if the dvla accept that, you then need a medical with a diabetic consultant, and iff all is ok the DVLA will issue a licence that lasts for 1 year.. then i believe you will need a yearly menu to retain the licence

so you have to consider this extra cost, also i dont think it would take much for them to remove your licence

ie, 1 disabling hypo in charge of a vehicle or not will be enough to remove your licence
any signs or retinopathy or neuropathy will also remove your licence

i am yet trying to decide if its worth the hassle

Dave,

The decision will be made on a individual basis depending upon your past and present medical history, just sit tight and await the DVLA's decision.

Hope you are successful! :)

Nigel
