As mentioned on another thread, the assessing fitness to drive advice for medical professionals has been amended to take account of Interstitial Glucose Monitoring.

For Type sorry Group 2 licences, a finger prick test must continue to be used to confirm the readings

I don't think this is type 2 thing - the link you shared mentions "Insulin treated diabetes" which is regardless of type.
And, if you are treating your type 2 with diet alone, I do not believe you have a restricted driving license.

I presume @britishpub was meaning Group2 licenses (ie. for buses and lorries) rather than Type2 diabetics
