[QUOTE="britishpub, post: 1865510, member: 175573"] It is not a matter of keeping the DVLA happy. They will only act when a drivers GP/Doctor or specialist doesn't tell them that a driver is fit to hold a particular licence. Whilst the DVLA employ their own medical professionals (currently 40 Doctors and 11 Nurse Practicioners) they only get involved in the very complex cases. If a medical form is completed correctly, and the Doctor says he/she is happy that the necessary BG tests have been undertaken, and most importantly the Doctor has said that the driver is fit/OK to drive the licence will be issued or renewed immediately with no further questions asked. It only get's given to a caseworker to look at, and possibly referred to a specialist when the drivers own doctor does not give DVLA the assurance that the driver is fit to hold the licence. P.S. If you have a Class 2 category on your licence due to passing your test prior to 1997, in order for it to remain on your licence you need to pass a medical for that particular category (D1 or C1) using form D4 or the categories will automatically be removed.
