hi all
I am new to this forum, type 1 taking Novarapid and lentus since nov.2015.
I got hb1ac 60 test done recently,most of the things are organised but still struggling to control early morning high BG level.
I do my dinner about 9pm and when I go for sleep about 11-12 the BG level is 7-8 but about 5-6 o'clock the level jumps to 16-17,
any suggestions/experience how to manage ,please.
thanks in advance.

Might be worth you adding another thread to the Type 1 forum to get more responses? Just a thought.
@Jaylee maybe you could move?

Hi @j_madan ,

What are your levels like for the rest of the day?
My first thought is that your bolus for the evening meal is doing all the work whilst still on board. & that the Lantus dosage needs a tweak, thus a higher liver dump come morning reading somewhere in the teens?
Here is a link on basal testing. https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/

Of course not all metabolisms are the same. My liver dumps tend to happen during the morning routine & only jump 2Mmol at most? I also tend not to do breakfast..

I can (or any other member of the team.) move your thread enquiry to the T1 section for you, if you wish..?

No idea what to advise as your bedtime is before your bolus insulin runs out. It could be you need more basal, it could be your ratio at dinner is wrong, or you could be going hypo at some point due to either of your insulins and rebounding without knowing it.

Maybe carb free dinner one night to see what your level does before bed? Then compare your morning reading. Other than that, it might be the dreaded, 12am, 3am, 6am tests to get an idea of what is going on. It is advised not to change overnight anything without knowing those numbers.

Also might be 'dawn phenomenon' ?

If mine kicks in I won't wake up below 10. If it doesn't, I will be around 4.

Might be worth investigating if your partner has not done so already.
