In the mornings i seem to have crazy resistance to insulin for breakfast meals, but when attending college this is fine and only happens very occasionally

However on holidays i wake up with fine sugar levels and my normal insulin rates arent enough. I am up at 15/16 2 hours later and ive tried increasing by a bit on my basal and also my ratio for meals but it doesn't do much for me (maybe i need to try increasing it even more?)

Ive tried injecting 30 mins before my meal then eating and it does the same thing..
Thanks

Are you more active on college mornings as this will help matters.

Wouldn't say im more active no...
I get up do all the same things
Then walk like 2 minutes into college and then im on a chair doing my work..

I also have a situation with football games on mornings when i get up i can sometimes find myself doing another 10-12 ish units to bring my blood down to play football

So your waking bg levels are fine then they climb as the morning moves on, it might be worth checking that your basal insulin (if on basal/bolus) is set at the right dose or you might just be more insulin resistant on a morning, ask your DSN for their input. too.

My basal is fine when at college. When on holiday I guess I may need to increase it or go for a ratio even smaller?

Most of us do fine that our insulin-to-carb ratio's differ from when we are working to when we are off, so going by what you say you would need to increase your insulin when not at college, as ever test your bg regularly so that you can spot any impending lows and see how you get on.

Okay and do you find that you have a large increase or just a small one?

No I'm fine on a morning if I eat upon waking, if I delay my breakfast or have to fast for something like a cholesterol check then I do see my bg spike as the morning moves, pre-pump I always made a point of getting up around 6.30 or thereabouts to avoid doing correction doses later on, since changing to a pump I can enjoy a lie-in on a weekend and wake with normal levels.

If you are more insulin resistant on a morning try and reduce the carbs in your breakfast, this way you would use slightly less insulin which should help matters, as a rule people are more insulin resistant in the morning and less so as the day goes on.
