I have seen the phrase "eat to your meter" a few times on the forums. Whilst I understand it means adjust your food intake to regulate your BGL, I am struggling with high BGLs (mid to high teens_ My endo, diabetes dietician and GP can't explain why other than to suggest I monitor my food intake even more carefully. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on how they have "eaten to their meter" when their BGL's are high? I am about to travel overseas so snack ideas would be most welcome.

When do you test? Typically sugar rises quickly after you eat, then gradually comes back down.

Being in the mid teens is very high. Are you on any medication? It does not sound like you are successfully controlling your sugars with diet.

I test before I eat and then a couple hours after to see how what I ate has effected me.

That has help me to figure out what I can eat and how much.

People react differently to foods and you need to figure out what foods are good for you.

The only way I have managed to reduce my levels has been low carb. If I eat any starchy carbs in a any amounts then I go sky high

hi @devans115 It says on your profile you are using insulin to control your diabetes. You contact your diabetes nurse on how to count your carbs and calculate your insulin
