Eating after a hypo

I had a bad hypo ( no warning) the other night, 2.9, and was so ravenous I could have eaten my hand. I took 3 Lucozade tablets at once and made myself a snack. My husband says I should have waited 10 mins after eating the Lucozade before eating the snack, but I couldnt. Does it really matter?

Hi lynbrown. In answer to your question no it does not matter if you eat a snack straight after your dextrose tablets as the dextrose will only be effective for about 20 to 30mins after taking them, the sooner that you get some carbs in you the sooner they can start being digested giving you slow release glucose to maintain a good level until you next time to eat I always have sandwiches with at least 4 slices of softgrain bread and this solves the problem for myself.

I hop this is helpful to you
