I try to make a point of eating at the table with my wife. it is difficult now.Who does this for each meal?
I think that if you make a point of only eating at a table for all meals that you don't pig out in between.

So is this why you don't snack in between? No I don't snack in between (although used to eat all sorts at work but now turn it all down) and yes I was dragged up to eat at a table
I was brought up without snacks as in the sixties you were supposed to eat at meal time and not spoil your appetite with snacks. I did get a mid afternoon glass of milk and a sandwich when I got home from school but that was it. The meals were substantial and obesity was rare, certainly in my very diabetic family.
For me, the main point with living together is to share meals. Long, substantial, sustaining meals. At table.
Having a partner who works shifts makes it very difficult. I work shifts, try to eat meals with my wife. Was difficult before but more so now that I can't eat just anything. My other friend brought her 3 yr old round over easter... She brought with her an easter biscuit for the child. She would only eat it at the table, even asking for a plate!! She made me feel normal for a few minutes!!
I just look at other peoples eating habits and am now really at the pint of feeling odd. Even when by myself I eat at the table.. (Bit lonely talking to myself when OH on late shift for 4 weeks!!) but it does just make me wonder whether the table eating instilled in me as a kid has meant a significant part unwittingly to me not snacking in between..
