In the morning on testing I was 6.4 I went for a meal out, 2 hours after I checked again and I had rose to 11.3, the next morning it was down to 7.3, is it dangerous to rise and fall like this occasionally.

Hi Daisymay, from what I have gleamed an occasional short term rise will not cause you any harm, however if this was a typical reaction to most meals, then you need to seek advice. A HBA1C test will let you know how your general blood glucose control is going. A fasting reading of 7.3 is slightly higher than recommendations, but you havent said what you ate. If you are diabetic you will get high 2 hour readings if you have consumed high carbs, that is what being diabetic is all about. To stay healthy you need to keep testing and find out what you can eat to prevent the 2 hour high readings. Best speak to your nurse.

All the best Steve

Hi Daisy,

Welcome to the forum.

You do not say how long you have had diabetes?

There is some advice for newly diagnosed which may help you. It was put together by Ken and Sue, two very experienced Type 2's.
