For anyone interested, Burgen Soya and Linseed bread is about £1.40 in Tesco and quite often on offer in Asda for £1. I actually made a bread pudding with it as a treat using some sweetener and a little bit of low fat spread. Sure the other half shouldn't be eating it, but he used to love his cakes and this is the nearest I could get to one without doing too much damage. Started buying peanut butter for him so he had something to spread on a bit of toast, though he just has a couple of spoonfuls out of the jar when he feels like it. I buy Meridian crunchy peanut butter in Tesco because it is 100% nuts, not mixed with palm oil. I read an article recently that said that people who eat peanut butter a short while before a meal showed better insulin control. I was buying it before I read this just because he likes it. I also read that eating Greek yogurt helps and he does eat that too. Don't really know if any of these things work, but they don't seem to do him much harm.
