Elbow joint pain

I was diagnosed in October and am on 500mg Metformin twice day. I also take Atorvastatin (which I've been on for a while without any problems) and tablets for high blood pressure. Over the last three weeks I've had terrible joint pain in my two elbow joints and occasionally in my right shoulder and both knees. Has anyone else had this problem and do you think it's worth a visit to the GP? I don't want to appear a moaner or worse still a hypochondriac.

Yes I've had a lot of joint pain - I think it's all part of the chronic inflammation package. The only thing that helped my elbows was resting them. I've currently upped my omega 3 supplements and am considering turmeric capsules as they are anti-inflammatory.

Hi Suzymo.
I get pain in my shoulder blades after I've been walking for 1/2 hr or so, feels like i'm carrying bags of heavy weights that in turn are dragging my shoulders down. Once home and relaxing, the ache goes.........don't understand why. Anyway, it's my 1st diabetes dietician appointment tomorrow morning so I'll ask her if she has any ideas about it. you never know, the two problems may be connected in some way.

Thanks for getting back to me. My elbows constantly ache and it's been getting me down. Even lifting a cup is painful at the moment. Will have a word with the doctor on my next visit if it doesn't improve.

Thanks. Appreciate it. Good luck tomorrow.

I get pain in all my joint but left elbow and right knee are the worst.I take loads of Paracetamol as I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and Occipital neuralgia but it doesn't help the pain or pins and needles in my left arm unfortunately.Dont want to take anymore tablets though as I already take 16 tablets and 2 injections a day now :(

i've have elbow pain for the last 2 month before that frozen shoulder .
if your on stains tell the GP to see if it could be the statining there is a blood test for this
make sure he gets it his Done.
and not just giving you pain killer or injection that don't work.

My first suspect would be the statin. Might be worthwhile doing a trial of not taking them to see if the pain improves.
