eligable for pump

i was wondering if any1 could tell me if their r certain requirments u need to make to be eligable for an insulin pump or can any1 get them?
 
Hi I purchased my first pump my self but since then i have got funding for a new one and all my consumables, there are ceratin situations where you are more likely to get a pump ie swinging blood sugars, unexplained hypo,s and an ekevated hba1c resuklt taht cant be brought down with multiple inhjections, i would speak to your diabetes nurse or look at the nice guidelines re pump therapy

Hope you get one soon , ive used mine for over 7 years now and havent looked back , but they dont suit everyone .
 
but if i bought a pump myself nd my doctor didnt advise me on it then i'de probably get a bolickin off them nd they probably cost a bomb? i'll ave 2 mention them 2 my doctor the next time i go. i have poorly controlled diabetes but my doctors dnt seem 2 help nd i think an insulin pump may help me but am not exactly sure how they work!
 
Sorry didn't make myself clear i did fund my first pump but i had full backing of a consultant who was prepared to put me through the appropriate training etc. You need a specialsist team to train you and need to be confident with carbohydrate counting and insulin adjustment , if i can help you in any way or youve got any further questions dont hesiate to e mail

In summary, if you experience disabling hypoglycaemia, or are unaware of its onset, or can't achieve an HbA1c of below 8.5% (old scale) then NICE say you qualify. They're expensive to buy initially (£3,000?) and require ongoing consumables, so if you can get one from your PCT that is going to save you a lot of money. i am confident in carbohydrate counting and adjusting my insulin but i find it hard doin my needles plus i have terribly lumbs so i dnt think the insulin i inject work straight away like my doctors says but i've tried everything to get rid of them nd its just doesnt work so i think the pump mite be better if its just used in 1 place instead of all ova my body (were allowed). i've got a hospital appointment next month so i'll speak to my specialist while i'm their nd see wot they say nd see if they think it will help me in anyways!
