I have been Type 2 Diabetic since 2014 and was on Metformin and Glicazide, i have been trying to lose weight on this combination of drugs which after months of struggling it has transpired that the glicazide has been stopping me and the drug that i should be on is Empagliflozin, which the Diabetic Specialist has put me on about two months ago which i have lost a lot of weight but i also have another side effect which only started after i went on this tablet, i have seen 2 different doctors and the diabetic nurse and specialist and they are all insisting that it is not the drug causing it. could people please share their side effects of this drug to see if anyone else has experienced this. The side effect i have is a pain in my left hand side, which seems to be there all the time but worse after a meal and can only be controlled by continually taking painkillers, neither Drs or Diabetic Nurse seem overly bothered about this, my thoughts are that either the tablet has triggered something else or the tablet is causing it.

Hi,
It does list joint pain as a side effect, also is your blood pressure okay?
Have you had any blood tests recently?
Hope this settles down.
I'd be concerned to, you can always seek a second opinion or ask to be referred to a pain specialist.
Is there any contact info for the manufacturers on the patient leaflet? You could contact them
Take care

Thank you, blood pressure slightly high but i was in for Surgery on 24th so was to be expected, they have done blood tests and everything came back clear. Its not joint pain more of a dull pain that gets worse through the day. I have left it with the Diabetes specialist that once i am over my surgery i will come off the tablet for two days and see how it goes, atm i have all sorts of niggles and pains from surgery so dont know what's what. I am due more surgery later in year and dont want to jeopardise that by messing too much with my tablets.
