I stopped taking it after a week. No symptoms but looked on blood sugar 101 who said...well do your research. I was assured by the nurse that if I got thrush they would prescribe canestan. You couldn't make it up.Yea significant weight loss (plus) overworking kidneys (negative) basically peeing glucose (negative infection risk) reduced insulin (basal down by 29 units bonus down by 14). Like I said too good to be true.
I was given meter to test for ketones because there is more of a risk of dka with that drug.Nope but DKA is more a risk for type 1s isn’t it? Also the significant BG reduction rules out DKA or am I losing the plot/. Bye the way thanks for replying
Thanks I have ordered the ketosticksHere's a link about DKA risk, it is not confined to T1.

Edit to clarify.
The link is about SGLT2s and DKA (Empag is an SGLT2)
Thanks I have ordered the ketosticks
I've been on a sister drug Dapagliflozin for about 4 years with no problems, not one episode of thrush, every drug has side effects and you have to weigh up the risk versus the benefits, my advise drink lots, and eat low(er) carbs
ThankI hope you're improved bg levels continue and produce a better quality of life for you. Good Luck.
Thanks has it lowered your HbA1cI've been on a sister drug Dapagliflozin for about 4 years with no problems, not one episode of thrush, every drug has side effects and you have to weigh up the risk versus the benefits, my advise drink lots, and eat low(er) carbs

Not Keto, just no brown/beige carbsJust as an FYI a ketogenic diet is contraindicated with SGLT2s.
I'm on a cocktail (Metformin, Dapagliflozin, sitagliptin and gliclazide) as I'm very insulin resistant, but holding steady at an Ac1 of 7, (was 17.4 at diagnosis 5 years ago), but as is often said this condition (disease, what ever you choose to call it) is a marathon not a sprint, and I will get my levels and meds down and control it and not the other way roundThanks has it lowered your HbA1c
