Endo/diabetic appnt

Type of diabetes
Type 2
Hi
I had my first appointment with the diabetic clinic today. I was diagnosed with POCS over 20 years ago so when got the diagnosis of type 2, I researched and found the link and requested an appointment to see an endocrinologist to discuss the best way forward
Having seen him today he had overridden diagnosis of type 2 and says I'm am pre diabetic. Because my fasting bloods were 7 and HBA1C was 42 (now down to 6.5 and 39) he says I was only ever prediabetic!
Anyway he wants my fasting bloods to keep coming down until they are under 6. If it doesn't keep coming down or starts to creep up then I will need metformin to prevent tipping over into type 2. A lot of this is because of the POCS. He was really happy with the way things were going and has discharged me with a view that I keep the weight loss (now 22lbs) going and the fasting blood glucose keeps coming down.
Not sure whether to feel relieved or not! He was impressed with my motivation to make significant changes to reverse the diabetes/pre diabetes, but it now feels a bit like I am cast a drift to continue with little support. I suspect the DN won't continue to provide me with a prescription for the test cassettes (my fault for choosing an expensive meter but I like being able to download the graphs to see all my results), so it will me up to me now to fund this to stay on track. As I work for the NHS I know that the resources need to be directed towards those who need it the most but it feels a little like 'oh you are managing well so off you go
Still I shouldn't complain I have this forum
