Hello
Looking for peoples experiences/advice on following
I did an off road event on a tank training track, so not flat and very sticky then sandy. It was 5k run-25K bike-5k run.
I did ok, 2h34m 23, but here is the question
I started the race at 5.5mmol/l (British measurements). I had times where I was lacking energy, I ate some jelly sweets, I had some lucozade sport. I ended the race on a plod and at 3.2mmol/l. This is not good, I am not worried about how much faster I could do but more about the following
What would you make your starting mmol/l?
What would your snacks be on the way round?
What are your warning signs that you have hit your limit/expired your reserves? I had a bit of "get moving Walker" chat to myself, not wanting/willing to quit, but I want to stay safe.
Are those gels better than a banana or should I stick old school?
Good news is I hate the texture of lucozade now, tastes great but it is so sweet and sticky it is wrong for anything other than a rapid recovery of exercise.
I welcome your views/opinions/experiences please you kind bunch of winners
Ross
