Had a scan yesterday. Now 32 and a bit weeks. Was a different consultant. Baby has jumped in 2 weeks from AC measurement on 50th percentile to 97th! Doc started panicking and booked induction for 38 weeks but said I should expect earlier and a c-section. She then said I must have had high BG readings and a high Hba1c. Neither of which are true ( I get the odd high of 10 etc and correct). I am totally in a panic, this was totally unexpected. There has been nothing remarkable about this pregnancy. Diabetes team said I needed to reduce hypos etc (which effectively would raise my average blood glucose levels??) so I am totally confused. My hba1c is 42. I am at a loss. Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? What was the outcome? I have quite frankly had enough now the stress is of course raising my blood glucose. I never had this issue with my first and my glucose levels were on average slightly higher!

That sounds like a big and sudden jump. Was the sonographer confident in their measurements?

I found I had to do lots of corrections in late pregnancy - especially in the evening after my meal. Silly question, but have you increased your testing to see if there are sneaky highs coming in? I found I had to adjust my diet a little too.

I can't remember who it was, but I'm sure a lady here was told she was having a big baby and then it turned out not to be that big at all.

Don't panic {{hug}} Concentrate on monitoring your BS so you can be sure all's in target, and try to keep calm. Even if your baby has increased in size, at least your team will be prepared and will do what's best for you both.

They should be giving you another scan before then so see how measurements are then, 2 weeks ago the FL on my scan had jumped massively in size but consultant said it could be a mis measurement so booked me in another scan which I had Monday and baby was back to being all within range, they do sometimes like to scare you though I think! Try not to stress which I know is far easier said than done! X

One of my previous scans showed an AC in the 90-somethingth percentile. I saw the consultant afterwards who suggested they repeated the scan a couple of days later, in case it was a bad measurement or something like that. At the repeat scan, baby's AC was in the 52nd percentile.

If you're worried, call and ask them if you can be scanned again. Worst thy can say is no

Hope all works out

Em xx

Thanks for your support. It was a consultant who did the scan. I use a freestyle libre light which in essence is a CGM as well as my pump for BG readings so it shows the continuous pattern. I wish there was reason for the growth but there aren't highs that I don't know about and certainly none that are long lived or would suggest reason for sudden and extreme growth. I test BG 8-9 times a day and supplement these with the scans from the libre. I just now feel really down and that I haven't done well by my baby. I have another scan booked for 34 weeks where they will check again.

Don't beat yourself up Hun it may still be that the measurements are out a bit xx
