Type 1 erection problems in young diabetic

im 25 years old and was wondering if erection problems such as the vascular nature can occur in such young diabetics ? my a1c is 5.5 and my control is good now where as it hasn't been really more of a roller-coaster but now its in normal ranges i dont get morning wood and can maintain a erection when by myself and during sex sometimes but other times it is just limp honestly just need abit of advice i have a urology appointment booked but worried there is no fixing this as i dont want to be on Viagra forever

Hi @ryan1990, I fully understand your concern. I went through a period in my twenties that reflects that very situation.

The good news is that if you can get it up and keep it up yourself, then you have far less to be concerned about. It is much more likely to be something in your head that's causing the issue than something physical. I'd hope the urology exam will also provide this feedback.

As to how to deal with it? That's a bit more tricky. To be fair, very few men walk around with a raging hard on all the time, and when it comes to sex, it's about confidence with the person that you are with. What many people often find is that the person they are mostly comfortable with and feel the most unembarrassed to be themselves around is who they are find themselves unencumbered with.

Sadly, one night stands often feel like a lot of pressure, so adding that to your plate can make it hard work.

All I can suggest is that you find out what makes you feel comfortable, and hopefully with a clean bill of health from urology, you won't worry as much, making it a lot easier.
