Hi, Looking for some advice, my son, age 25, has recently been diagnosed with Type 1, he has Asperger's syndrome, and currently receives PIP and Employment Support Allowance. He is on the lower rate for this, does anyone think it would be worthwhile claiming to up his rate. We live in scotland

Not sure how it all works, if unsure have a word with the Citizens Advice as they are normally quite good on such matters.

I have a teenage son with Aspergers not diabetic, he is on middle rate DLA and ESA, If you have to give more care to your son because his needs have changed it may be a good idea to let them know, if you are now taking care of his diabetes and he can't do it by himself I would think his need have changed considerably and he may be entitled to more PIP

I know lots of people have had difficulties with this department but whenever I have contacted them regarding my son they have always been very helpful and I have never had any problems.

Hope your son is coping, I know my son would be in total meltdown if this happened to him, I know they all cope differently but it's never easy is it?

Hi. I would agree with Lovinglife.....call them and explain. I've always found them helpful too. Hope all works out and your son is ok x
