I am new on the forum and this is my first post, but I have to share this with you all.I'm male aged 74 and from the UK.ive been diabetic for 23 years type 2 oral Meds only.. prior to this I was extremely fit but had sustained serious back problems and injuries.sporting...anyway in 2000 my back was so bad I could not walk drive or go to work I knew it was time that I needed a back operation which a surgeon said I would probably need in due course some 15 years previously...well my GP at that time was totally oblivious to my request for a referral and refused point blank to refer me..it was over 12 months later, still unable to work that I paid for a private consultation and a week later had a back operation...the surgeon said I should have had it done way sooner... anyway within 6 weeks I was back at work but the consequences of being sedentary for so long and not being able to book after myself properly, was within 2 months I was diagnosed as being diabetic....and up until the present time have had varying fluctuations of symptoms some quite erratic blood sugar readings...I have felt quite despondent and desperate at times and the last 3 years have had various stomach problems all probability related to diabetes but no actual diagnosis....well this year I didn't think I could cope with another cold UK winter, my feet were giving me problems also...so October I went to Thailand and I'm here now..A Thai nurse friend immediately put me on a strict high protein low carb diet of 4 meals a day and a fitness regime of gym evening day for 2 hours... for the last 4 weeks my blood sugars have normalised.. 4.9 morning pre meal and no more than 7 evenings and this has been constant, the last 2 weeks without medication..I honestly believe I'm no longer diabetic but will see a doctor in the new year... sorry if a bit long winded but felt I needed to show the history and to encourage all you struggling out there not to give up as there is still hope with the right kind of help and care...I haven't felt this strong and healthy in 25 years

It's relatively rare to find someone who's in the medical field and on board with low carbing. It happens, but sometimes you have to travel halfway around the world to find one, it seems! Very happy for you, and well done!
