Hi

Need some help with different types of exercises my 5 year old can do at home during the summer holidays due to his blood glucose staying high when the weather is poor

Usually he is playing in the garden and his bloods are normal but once he stays indoors his bloods are high

Any help will be appreciated

You could buy him a Nintendo wii, and get him going on the wii sports. I can't think of anything else at home that a five year old would enjoy, but you could get him down to the local sports centre. I pretty much lived in the swimming pool during the summer holidays as a child. My mum would hand some dextrose tablets and a snack to the lifeguards, and say about my diabetes as a precaution.

yikes mine at 5 were hard to stop from self exercising lol how about a huge hampster wheel? or some blue smarties and turn off the tv? :)

being serious for a second i can't really think of anything other than general play (and turning off the tv)

hula hooping? ahhh how about the wii? there are lots of great energetic games suitable for 5 year old on that

Treasure hunts, hide and seek, obstacle courses, wii activities, have a full o disco (why not?), musical chairs, volleyball or badminton with balloons, hopscotch, twister, pillow case race,..just a few ideas that sprang to mind

Local play/activity groups are good, my kids were always into sport and some community/ sports centres do indoor activities like football for that age group.

one of those mini-trampolines?

All the old-fashioned body weight exercises
-press ups
- burpees
- lunges
- step ups
- box jumps
- star jumps
make up a fun circuit, see who can do a set number of each first.
