Exercise Training & high bloods sugar

Hi this is my first post, iv been type1 for around 18 years now, my control has been up and down in the first few years but have now grown to know how to control it well.i used togo to the gym regularly and keep fit with no problems but recently i joined back to the gym and have started todo spinning and intense training classes, my readings in the mornin are usualy in around 7.5 and maybe a bit higher from eating a bit more before bed to gain a good level for the morning exercise.my problem is that after the exercise i come home in good form but then start to feel sick and off! This is due to really high blood sugars ranging up to its 20s!!

My question is how can i go to the gym with a good level blood sugar and come home without being so high?

Id really appreciate any comments on this thanks

Hi Peter, high intensity exercise will result in an increase in BG levels. I have found the only way to control this during interval sessions on the track is to inject insulin. It's a bit of trial and error to work out how much to inject and when.

Essentially, your body is reacting to the intensity by assuming this is a "fight or flight" response and saying "here you go, have the necessary fuel to get out of here!".
