Type 2 diabetic on low carbon diet, I have now started on my exercise regime. Consisting of 3 X 12k per week on a treadmill 8 degree gradient, completing each session in 1 hour 50 mins. On top of my normal everyday activities is this sufficient?

Or does anybody know of a graph relating to age, distance, and times etc.

That sounds like a very healthy amount of activity @Roddy666 - diabetic or not:)

You'll only know whether it's enough when you're losing weight (providing you need to) and your blood glucose levels come down and your overall control improves. No-one can tell you what is, or isn't enough exercise - we're all different in our needs.

I will go as far as saying that when it comes to exercise, it's very difficult for us to "overindulge". The obesity and overall general health statistics speak for themselves; diabetic or non-diabetic.

Personally i think it's more about what you eat.. I didn't change my exercise regime (just walking the dog) much but got good control by cutting carbs and loosing weight with some intermittent fasting. I have only now started doing some extra exercise (after 18 months of LCHF) because I've got so much bloody energy. You may find that strenuous exercise drives up your blood sugars so as always test yourself and see... we are all our own n=1 experiments.

I agree it is more about what you eat, or more precisely, what you don't eat.

I believe exercise is good for the body and soul and general health, maybe insulin resistance, but as for weight loss I doubt it helps a jot. All it does for me is push my blood sugars up.

I dropped my BMI from 31 to 21 in around 9 months and have normalised my blood sugars with no additional exercise. I walk the dog and do the housework and a bit of gardening, but I have always done that.
