I just started a thread by the same title but with a slightly different slant.

When I had my gall bladder removed they had to open me up - not keyhole. And in the process this did affect my stomach in a similar way. I tried quite hard to get rid of it with quite a lot of exercise but despite the rest of my body toning up the stomach “damage” was never resolved.

Hi @martin1111 and @Listlad,
I think these questions would need medical input as hernias can cause troubles.
Sometimes operations are needed. And I am guessing exercises might somehow make hernias worse ?
My only other comment is that I am aware that in the past surgeons used to use a plastic type mesh for some hernia ops.
Plastic mesh has caused lots of problems particularly in women and certainly in Australia there are current enquiries and potential law suits pending. So this mesh and its use are under a cloud at present.
Best Wishes for some sound medical advice.

Oddly enough I’m waiting for an umbilical hernia operation. I can’t do sit ups to help my stomach but so far as my arms are concerned, some cheap dumbells and simple lifting exercises for the biceps and triceps. There are plenty of online videos with exercises.
