I wonder if anyone can advise me on the effects of blood sugar levels rising after quite rigorous exercise.

As a potted history I have had type 1 for 44 years and always been relatively active, playing rugby up until the age of 54 and susequentely taking up mountain biking.

Occasionally after biking for 2 - 4 hours I take a blood test and last weekend it came up as 18?

On this occasion I had taken a blood test before cycling which was 8, taken 4 units of Humilin ( I normally take 11 ) and had an average sized bowl of Fruit and Fibre, all of which I would normally do.

The majority of times my levels will fall and I need to take some additional carbohydrate whilst riding

I understand that when anyone exercises the liver produces glucose and this requires insulin to release it into the muscles, but has anyone else experienced this random event and what is the solution?

Thank you
