Hi - I was diagnosed with Type 1 about 4 weeks ago. I've just about got to grips with the amount of insulin I'm taking and how much/what to eat.
I used to be very active, but for months haven't been exercising due to lack of energy (for obvious reasons!).
I'd really like to get back into an exercise routine but am nervous about getting a hypo from too the physical activity.
Has anyone got any advise on how to manage this?

Thanks!

Hi
I've been diagnosed 6 months. Like you, hadn't been in a routine for ages due to exhaustion from being undiagnosed. I've been back to swimming and kickboxing in last few weeks, no probs :)
For me my BS can drop during, so keep a sugary drink and ur meter with u to test. U might go low after, or high even - we are all different.
I'd say, start slow, walk, test, see how you react and build up from there.

Good luck :)

Thanks for your replies folks - lots of useful info and advice.
As you say I'll start slow, probably with swimming and see how I get on.
