I have been invited to attend a course (EPP)via my surgery, run by Expert Patients programme community interest company. This a a free six week course, for anybody who lives with long term health conditions, ie, pain, depression, diabetes,to name a few.
I was wondering if anyone has attended a similar course and if the gain help out of it.

Yes - I went on one in September/October.

It was definitely worth going to, but you must bear in mind that the health professionals who run it will be promoting official NHS advice.

Ours at least reccomended low glycemic index, but seemed not to be aware of the more up to date glycemic load (which takes portion sizes into account).

They were also not keen on self testing - but it did make me think about the best times for me to test. Because one size doesn't fit all - not all they say may be what you choose for yourself.

Nevertheless, it was a good use of time and I enjoyed meeting the others on the course. There was a good mixture of ages and years since diagnosis.

The look of sheer happiness on the face of an old chap who learned that he could have some chocolate, after having been told he was forbidden all sugar many years previously, was worth going for alone :P
