All I say is this is not up for debate!!Depends on your family.
What's the worse that can happen?
'F*** off' works for me.
Be yourself.
I'd like to help you out ..............which way did you come in?I have tried googling but can't seem to find my way through all the quack doctor sites to read good articles as to be honest I could do with educating myself so I can answer the questions asked of me confidently.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Have come off meds and am now diet controlled with very good control. My family does not know anybody else with diabetes and don't understand. I often get told to go on, it's only one, it's special occasion, what's the worst that can happen.
I have insulin resistance and before controlling my bg's I had neuropathy and my eyesight deteriorated really badly over the course of one year. I learnt a lot by downloading books from Amazon on my Kindle. It's cheaper than buying them and you can 'take a look inside' to see if the style and layout appeals. The reviews are a good pointer to how good the book is. You can also decide your area of interest, LCHF, keto, recipes etc. Of course you can also learn a lot on this website and Diet Doctor. You will feel much more confident when you have a basic understanding of nutrients and how the body uses them.Have come off meds and am now diet controlled with very good control. Bloody annoying isn't it! I got told at work but you don't have diabetes anymore as your off the meds and diet controlled! And when a colleague was handing out cakes I said no thanks, he said you never have cakes to what I said that's because I'm diabetic, he said I'll bring some lettuce next time, I really wanted to punch him in the face!!! No idea how hard it is sometimes x

I am very careful with who I share my medical info with. Not because I am ashamed but I don't want every social situation to be about what I can or can't eat.
If anyone asks questions and I don't feel like sharing with I just say, I feel better when I don't eat "x"
I then ask a question about their lives family or work to distract them. Most people prefer to talk about themselves.
I find it interesting and frustrating how what we eat and how is thought to be social acceptable to comment on.Very true I will keep it to myself next time xxxx lesson learnt xx
Oh wow I bet that would be fun at a cocktail party.People only ask me or comment on my food once because I immediately show them the pictures I've got saved on my phone of people who have had amputations, etc due to uncontrolled diabetes. They never ask or comment a second time.
