Hey guys, type 1 diagnosed in April, getting married in August and heading on a cruise for honeymoon
I'm not one to play on my diabetes or let it stop me from leading a completely normal life but was wondering is there anything I'd need to look out for stuck on a boat for 2 weeks? Other than the obvious, bring plenty of supplies etc. etc .
 
Does the cruise company know you are diabetic?
I know that there is a doc on every cruise ship, but I've no idea of the etiquette on letting them know they have a T1 on board.

Our cabin had a fridge, so that is one thing not to worry about. :)

No, but will drop them an e-mail, the only thing that worries me is I've read that you can wait a wile on your meals....I've no issues injecting discreetly with my pen at the table but hate the thought of ruining meals by having to snack beforehand if I wait too long and start to hypo!!
 
Yeah making sure you have a fridge would probably be the only thing I'd want to know, other than that and taking your supply's I think you're good to go!
 
There was food available 24/7 on our ship.
A cafeteria style serve yourself - food immediately available.
Assorted snack and drink eateries and bars.
Formal dining rooms with set mealtimes. There were 5-7 small courses, spread over the mealtime, so you might need to spread your insulin across a couple of small injections rather than one big one (I'm a t2, so I don't really know what that involves).
But I think you should find it all flexible enough.

My downfall is hypos. If I'm getting to the lower edge of my range, any physical exertion will make me drop like a stone. So we always took the lifts to the dining room, and took the stairs the rest of the time... :)
