Hi can somebody give me an idea how to work out delivery times used on extended bolus' please
Ta

What sort of an answer are you expecting? o_O

What you are asking about tends to be very personal in the sense that it varys from person to person. Even if everyone digested food at the same rate there is still no way to know for sure how it would affect your BG. Again, people differ.

You also haven't given us any real background about yourself. It's hard to make suggestions when you've got no context to work in.

Sorry! All I needed to know is how people in general work out their extended bolus as it's not something I've used on my pump before. Not to worry as my questions have been answered on another post. Sorry to have bothered you!

I've copied and pasted it for you. Not the exact answer I was after but like you said everyone is different. All I really wanted to know was the difference between multiwave and extended bolus but I asked in completely the wrong way! Anyway here's the post:

There are three types of boluses: standard, extended and multiwave. The last one is a combination of standard and extended. You bolus some insulin at the time of eating (standard bolus) and then extend the rest. For meal without carbs you would use only extended as you don't need any insulin at the time of eating. Hope that helps

"For meal without carbs you would use only extended as you don't need any insulin at the time of eating."

Actually there is potentially some wriggle room in that caveat since it would depend on whether or not your bolus is only for the meal or includes a correction for a high BG, no?

Of course, it might simpler for most to simply bolus for the correction and then bolus for the meal. :sorry: ;)
