Extremely Hungry

Has anyone experienced weight loss while taking Metformin? It seems I'm hungry all the time. My blood glucose is well controlled. I'm wondering is it time to see my Doctor. I've lost 20 pounds in 4 months. Is that too much of a weight loss for 4 months. I would love know if anyone else experienced this.

The weightloss amount depends on what you weighed before. Metformin users usually report a mild dulling of appetite. I would discuss this with your diabetes nurse or your gp if you are worried.
If you have adjusted your diet to exclude some/most carbs this will cause weight loss for many and to satisfy your hunger you might want to try adding a little fat to your diet such as coffee with cream.

If you haven’t lowered carbs I would get some testing done. The c peptide which will tell you your pancreatic output and the gad which will tell you your autoimmune. Sudden severe weight loss is a sign of LADA
I don’t think metformin does that. Tests are indicated here
