I've only just been diagnosed with borderline diabetes, so most of the complications of diabetes are mostly things used to scare me (or for me to scare myself!). We do NOT live in a world where you have fasting bg of 7.9 today and your foot amputated tomorrow.
So, I'm very wary of attributing any problem to diabetes ATM - especially as I have other serious medical problems to deal with.
However, I've developed an eye problem in the last couple of days - the white of the right eye has developed a "bloodshot" patch just at the edge (so I can, just see it in a mirror when rolling my eyes sideways). Could this be diabetes related, and should I worry about it or report it?
I don't want to develop the habit of going to my GP every time anything happens, not least because she would get very fed up with seeing me in her surgery. Just at the moment it would be very difficult, anyway, since I am virtually housebound because of the snow (sticks + snow = fall = problems).
So does anyone have experience of when you should take your eye problems to the doctor - bearing in mind that I have to "ration" my visits?
Current "treatment" btw = eye bath and mild saline solution to stop irritation.
