Newly diagnosed t2 and my vision is really blurred. Am told it will rectify itself when my diabetes is controlled but would love some reassurance from others this has happened to. Am on glimeperide and metformin.
Hi leedsgirl and a warm welcome to the forum.
Some newly diagnosed do have blurred vision but once they get their blood sugar levels to a manageable level they find that things improve. If you wear glasses please don't go and get a new pair as they will be obsolete and a waste of money when things improve.
Here is a link to the information for newly diagnosed diabetics. It will help you.
yes, it will definitely get better. Happened to me. Got things under control, vision went quite quickly blurry, then better again bit by bit over the next few weeks. Don't worry. It's totally normal.
As Catherine and Snodger has already said, in time you should see a big improvement in your vision once your blood glucose is stabilised, should this not be the case then I suggest you speak with your gp.
I'm T1 and if my blood sugar is too high my eyesight becomes blurry. It returns to "normal" as my sugar level goes back down. So as you get the sugar levels under control I would expect the eyesight to get better too.
Thank you so much for your advice. I think more than anything the thought of losing my eyesight has made me face up to changing my diet. I am still finding it all a bit of a nightmare and strangely enough I was once a registered nurse who sometimes gave advice to others about diabetes. Once I was diagnosed myself I realised I had either forgotten everything I ever knew or just couldn't relate any of it to my own situation. Crazy, but true! Just riding through the Metformin side effects now so the nightmare continues! Very pleased to have found you guys on here though. I feel like I've got some support at ground level. Cheers m'dears! x
