Hi, does any one know if eye tests are free if you have diabetes? My eye sight seems to have got worse over the last little while. Thanks

Yes they are in the UK. You don't need any proof you simply sign the form that states you are exempt at the optitians

Absolutely! I believe that eyesight can improve, get worse withh BG. I certainly notice my vision blurring if my BG is high for a while. Apart from the obvious question about your BG, it is worth remembering that if you are having a "good" or "bad" week, BG wise, the glassess, etc you may get from the optician may only work some of the time!

Thanks for the replies, have been to the opticians today and he conformed that one of my eyes has got worse. Mind you that could just be another side effect of being 40! My BG is ok (I think) off to see the nurse in the morning so I`m sure she will let me know if it`s not. Kitty

I've just had to accept wearing glasses but made it to 50 without them, so I suppose I can't complain. I have little self-confidence as it is and felt a right ugly speccy four-eyes, when I went to collect them.I'll feel more comfortable once I put that paper bag over my head before I venture out though!!!:)

Does anyone else seem to get a painful eye now and again? it feels like a black eye, under the eye feels bruised and it hurts to actually touch or rub the eye? it doesn't look any different and i have had it on 2/3 occurrences , i have not knocked it or done anything that should cause this, and also i am only 19!! It lasts for a few days and then will go.
